Horse Trailering & Local Transport
Not owning a trailer should not limit what you can do with your horse. Plenty of capable owners board, ride, and compete without one, because a truck and trailer is a large purchase that sits unused most of the year.
What matters in hauling is unglamorous: a roadworthy rig, working lights and brakes, tires that have been checked recently, safe dividers and mats, and a driver who accelerates and brakes like there is something alive in the back — because there is.
The barn and property your horse would live on
Our farm at 5750 Holiday Rd in Buford — the barn, the board-fenced pastures, and the turnout, shot from the air so you can see the whole layout before you visit.
What we haul for
Veterinary appointments and referral clinics, including the trips you need on short notice. Farrier appointments for specialty work. Shows, clinics, and trail outings. Barn moves. And pickups when you buy a horse and need him brought home.
For most of these, the value is in reliability — you booked the appointment weeks out and the horse has to be there.
Horses that do not load well
A horse that will not load is a real problem, and it never solves itself on the morning of an appointment. If loading is a struggle, work on it on an ordinary Tuesday with no deadline, in a trailer parked in a familiar place, with time to spare.
This is a common piece of training work and one of the highest-value skills you can put on a horse. When there is a colic at midnight, loading is the only thing standing between your horse and a surgical clinic.
Preparing your horse for a haul
Shipping boots or wraps if your horse is accustomed to them — an unfamiliar wrap on the day of a trip does more harm than good. Hay for anything beyond a short trip, ideally soaked or dampened to cut dust. Water offered before loading and at stops.
In Georgia summer, timing is everything: early morning beats midday, and a trailer parked in the sun becomes an oven quickly. Ventilation open, and no unnecessary standing around in a hot rig.
Paperwork and travel requirements
Within Georgia, requirements differ from crossing a state line, and event venues often set their own rules. A current negative Coggins is the standard document to have on hand, and out-of-state travel typically requires a health certificate from your vet. Check with your vet and the destination before travel — requirements change, and we will not guess on your behalf.

Call 404-738-6120 and we will tell you straight away whether we can get there. For a true emergency, always start with your vet.
Do you haul for non-boarders?
